Following government advice we have suspended our regular group activities. We understand this will be a challenging period for everyone it affects, and we feel very sorry to not be able to support members through our usual channels. We want to reassure everyone that our groups will recommence at the very earliest opportunity, and that we will continue to be available to our members, albeit in a different way to usual. We will write to everyone to let you know when our groups will reopen. In the meantime, we are happy to tell you about some new ways we are introducing to keep in touch with you.
We have introduced an online forum which you can find at https://silverline-memories.freeforums.net/. When you visit the page, you will be asked to register your details. This will allow you to leave posts and to comment on each other’s posts as a way to keep in touch. Please do try this, it’s an online community made up of those who attend our Monday Café and a good way to reduce the isolation we are all going to experience in coming weeks. If you have any suggestions for topics or discussions you would like to see included in the forum please do let me know and I will be happy to add these for you. The forum is your space so all feedback is very welcome.
Dementia Carer Support Group
We are delighted we can offer our Carer Support Group meetings in April as a conference call. This means anyone wishing to participate can call from any telephone and will be able to talk to all other participants. The session will be led as always by Paula from A Time to Talk.
To join these calls:
Dial 0843 176 0000 (or if outside the UK +44 843 176 0000)
You will be asked to enter your conference number which is 30185406, followed by #
You will be asked to enter the PIN number which is 1312
You will then join the group in the conference call.
Please note that calls to the number are charged at 6.25p per minute from a landline (more from a mobile) so the cost per session will be around £3.75 if you participate for the full hour.
Our next Silverline Sings session (April 6th) will be a Facebook Live event. Kayley will be live on our Facebook Page from 2pm-3pm. You will be able to comment and reply to one another, and the show will be available to watch again. To join in all you need to do is be viewing our Facebook Page (www.facebook.com/silverlinememories) during the session to watch Kayley singing live, and to join in from your own home.
Shopping & Essential Supplies
We have received many offers of support from people in the local community who are keen to help those who are having to self-isolate or socially distance. We are therefore offering to help with any collections of essential items or food shopping. To arrange help please contact us on 0191 603 0095.
As a further reminder, you can still reach us on 0191 603 0095. Due the exceptional circumstances we are asking that if your call cannot be answered that you do leave us a message so we can get back to you as soon as possible. All calls are being diverted to one mobile number so please do be patient in the event of a short delay in returning any messages. You can also email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Finally, I’d just like to ask you all to take care of yourselves. Please don’t take any unnecessary risks and follow all the guidelines about avoiding public spaces and making unnecessary trips out of the house. There is help available for shopping and prescriptions and we can all keep each other company using the methods above. I am missing seeing you all on Mondays but want us all back fit and well when we are able. Let’s look after ourselves and one another.
With all good wishes.
