Maria Flanagan, Chair of the Board

I joined Silverline Memories in March 2023 as the Chair of the Board.

Maria Graduated from Northumbria University in 1999 and embarked on a career in Health and social care, spending the initial 12 years working with families and young people experiencing homelessness. She furthered her education undertaking a Masters in Housing, social policy, and regeneration.  After working with all vulnerable groups within the sector, she specialised in Mental Health, working for Richmond Fellowship and Turning Point as Head of Operations.

She has been an active Board member for Hostel Liaison Group, and held both Vice Chair and the Chair role for the Supporting People provider forum in Cheshire. An area of passion has been supporting joint up thinking service design and supporting commissioning to benefit from mixed economy provision and funding between Health and Social Care.

Her career has been focused on driving quality and practice in services, regulatory standards, and shaping and designing Business Models that enable the Individual to be at the heart of their personalised Journey.

Maria undertook Level 1 and 2 in BSL, specifically to enable an often marginalised group to be included in services that were being designed through often forced procurement and tendering, and a group that was becoming more likely to be placed into generic service provision.

The latter 5 years of my career have been involved in supporting those under the transforming care agenda, those with Mental Health conditions actively advocating for  individuals to be discharged into their own homes so they can live their best possible lives. I strongly believe this is a fundamental Human right for it to be a choice to be cared for in the community.

Maria has provided Leadership and Management nationally, in Exec and non exec roles bringing a wealth of experience that will help Silverline Memories grow and deliver its Strategic plan.
