Kelly Smith, Head of Finance and People

Born and bred in Newcastle, I now enjoy a quieter life in the countryside with my husband and our two lively Cocker Spaniels. I’m also a proud mum to my son, who has recently flown the nest to start his own journey.

I joined Silverline Memories as Head of Finance & People in July 2024, having been a passionate supporter of the charity for five years prior. My professional background is rooted in fraud and financial investigation, with a career spanning role at the Department for Work & Pensions and Northumbria Police. During my time with the police, I also worked in the control room handling emergency calls and later within the Community Engagement Team, focusing on Hate Crime support and prevention.

On a personal level, Alzheimer’s is close to my heart, as my mother-in-law lives with the condition. This lived experience deepens my commitment to the work we do at Silverline Memories, supporting those affected by dementia with compassion and dignity.
